Babies At Homerton Ge Works

Babies at Homerton (GE Works)

For babies who are born premature or sick, the first months of life are a struggle. The Homerton Hospital in East London takes the smallest and the sickest of these babies. These newborns are highly sensitive to their environment -- small changes in temperature and humidity can have a real impact on their health and comfort. GE recently donated £4.8 million worth of healthcare technology to Homerton Hospital, including a number of high tech incubators that are capable of maintaining the precise temperature and humidity recommended by the doctors. These incubators and medical supplies will have a lasting impact on the London community -- who knows, maybe one of these babies will grow up to be an Olympic athlete! Darius is Still Playing Baseball (GE Works)

Every year, high school athletes die from heart abnormalities. Darius Loving is a teenager who has a heart abnormality -- but his was detected, and he's alive and playing baseball. GE makes medical devices that enable physicians to make an accurate assessment of the patient's condition -- potentially saving their lives. These devices helped doctors to diagnose Darius Loving's heart abnormality early and -- with careful monitoring -- he can still step into the batter's box and take his cuts.
