Ge Xl44 Range Added New


GE XL44 range. Added new igniter when I turn on the oven I start smelling gas but no flame below. ?

GE XL44 range. Added new igniter when I turn on the oven I see the igniter glow really bright but I start smelling gas but no flame starts below.

Pls Help!!!!!!!!!

I once had a customer replaced his own igniter and put it in upside down, it was so high up that the gas was passing completely below the glowing coil for several seconds before it would finally ignite, usually with a loud booming sound. If that's not your problem, then there's most likely a problem with the gas safety valve, to which the igniter is connected by wires. Replace that and your gas smell should go away. Just be sure to check the fitting joints with some soapy water after changing.
