Economic Growth In Derby With

Derby: Derby has enjoyed an encouraging start to the year with a record number of new companies being set up in the first six months of 2012. 991 companies were set up, beating any other first half year on record and representing a significant improvement on 2011?s half year tally of 856.


Local employer Rolls-Royce bought further good news to the area last month with the announcement of a better-than-expected half-yearly rise in profits. The company, which employs over 12,000 staff at its Derby plant, achieved profits of ?637 million between January and July, a 7 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.


Unilever, which has a factory in Burton, also announced a rise in half-yearly profits and a rise in global sales.
